3、ational institutions in the United States.Building on CISAs efforts to support kindergarten through grade 12 schools,DHSs Science and Technology(S&T)Directorate asked the Homeland Security Operational Analysis Center(HSOAC)to conduct a landscape assessment of threats and hazards that are affecting i
4、nstitutions of higher edu-cation(IHEs)across the United States,current safety and security practices that IHEs are employing to address those threats and hazards,and needs for future resources and sup-port in this area.This report draws on existing data about crime and violence on IHE cam-puses,a re
5、view of academic literature and other guidance and resources focused on safety and security issues in this sector,and interviews with IHE representatives and relevant pro-fessional organizations from across the country.The primary audiences for this research are safety and security practitioners at
