2、one Panamax and one Kamsarmax vessel)and has contracted for 15 dry bulk vessels(consisting of six Kamsarmax and nine Ultramax),from shipyards in Japan and China.Upon final delivery of all of the vessels,the owned fleet is expected to have a total carrying capacity of approxi-mately 3.4 million deadw

4、allenging year for dry bulk shipping.The pronounced and continuous oversupply of vessels pushed the Baltic Dry Index(“BDI”),the most common industry measure for freight rates,down throughout the year,reaching an all-time low during February 2016.Negative operating margins have been the norm.In addit

5、ion,as market expectations for future vessel earnings declined,so did asset values.Benchmark pricing for vessels across the spectrum of dry bulk dropped significantly during the year,especially for older vessels but also for new vessels and ships under construction.Facing these stiff head-winds,our

6、Company has taken significant and difficult steps to adapt and protect its position.One of our most notable initiatives during 2015 was to exit the Capesize segment.We sold our entire fleet of 28 Capesize vessels,many in the later stages of con-struction,for gross proceeds of approximately$1.2 billi
