1、Page|Page|1 1 1.The Importance of Methane Emissions Reduction Methane(CH4)is the second largest greenhouse gas after carbon dioxide(CO2)and is growing at the fastest rate globally in decades,1 with emissions reaching a record high in 2023.2 According to the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report(AR6),human ac
2、tivities have caused global temperatures to rise by 1.07C between 2010 and 2019,with 0.5C attributable to methane.3 As a short-lived climate pollutant(SLCP)with a 12-year lifespan,methane mitigation offers rapid climate benefits.4 The AR6 considers methane emissions reductions as one of the most eff
3、icient methods to curb global warming.5 Beyond addressing climate change,reducing methane emissions can improve environmental quality,public health,and food security.According to the Global Methane Assessment jointly released by the Climate and Clean Air Coalition(CCAC)and the United Nations Environ
