3、ECTION BUREAU 1.Introduction The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act(Dodd-Frank Act)mandates that the Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau(CFPB)submit to Congress an annual report on the CFPBs financial literacy activities and strategy to improve the financial l
4、iteracy of consumers.1 We are pleased to submit this 10th Financial Literacy Annual Report.The report covers fiscal year 2022(FY22),the period from October 2021 through September 2022.One of the CFPBs five statutory objectives2 is to ensure that“consumers are provided with timely and understandable
5、information to make responsible decisions about financial transactions,”and one of its primary functions is“conducting financial education programs.”3 The statute also delineates more specific responsibilities in this area.Congress directed the CFPB to develop and implement initiatives to“educate an
6、d empower consumers to make better informed financial decisions,”4 to“develop and implement a strategy to improve the financial literacy of consumers,”5 and to provide“opportunities for consumers to access”activities and information on a broad range of financial capability topics.6 The CFPB strives
